Fascinated by the Revolution. The Fate of Belarus’ Artists and Architects in the Light of the Events of 1917
Abstract
by Siarhei Khareuski
The paper follows the lives of the artists at the beginning of the 20th century and shows their different responses to the revolution. Many of them like Marc Chagall and Kasimir Malevich connected the revolution with freedom and new opportunities for the art as a public diplomacy means. But did the revolution live up to their expectations? What remained after the short period of fascination with the revolution?
