Abstract
by Tanja Setsko
For a long time sexuality was not a part of public discussion in the USSR. This fact found its representation in the fields of art and culture – sexuality was silenced and censored. Perestroika brought not only political changes but also a sexual revolution. At the same time, female sexuality was still subjected to the patriarchal order. The article looks at the series of nudes by Vitali Brusinski from the gender perspective in order to explicate the tension between the liberation of sexuality and patriarchal culture.
