The Role of the Ukrainian Diaspora in Realizing Ukraine's Humanitarian Policy Abroad

The paper discusses the role and place of the Ukrainian Diaspora in realizing Ukraine’s humanitarian policy abroad as well as its influence on the development of the world Ukrainian community.
The author makes a short comparative analysis of Western and Eastern Ukrainian Diasporas, shows the differences in their historical development, the degree of realization of civil rights and freedoms as well as different attitudes to the events taking place in Ukraine that are connected with the annexation of a part of the Ukrainian territories and the military conflict in the East of the country.
The strategic vectors of interaction between the Ukrainian Diaspora and the Ukrainian state are analyzed on concrete examples and situations. The need for a systemic and productive cooperation between the Ukrainian state and the Ukrainian Diaspora in realizing Ukraine’s humanitarian policy abroad is emphasized. The author draws attention to the need of realizing the Ukrainian Diaspora’s potential in the context of the strategic orientation of Ukraine towards joining the European community as a fullfledged member.
The article points out the need for the Ukrainian state to start solving topical humanitarian tasks including the sphere of the humanitarian defense of the country from the external aggression in close cooperation with the Ukrainian Diaspora.
