Abstract

The article reviews the phenomenon of people’s solidarity in the
Belarusian segment of the Internet which could be observed during
and after the presidential elections on December 19, 2010. !e author
sees the basic functions of the Internet in spreading of solidarity
ideas. He examines the most signi#cant and well-known aid
initiatives for victims. !e author attempts to forward the description
of the traditional practice of Internet usage in social activities
into another dimension: from its mythical ideologizing into the applied
mechanism to organize work in reality.
