Is Philosophy Possible in the Contemporary World?
Article
Abstract
[In Russian]
Recent developments in higher education indicate a dimin- ishing role of humanities, especially of their integral part – philosophy. Having been previously a core element of university cur- riculum it is becoming gradually marginalized and its very exis- tence as a discipline is presently seriously undermined.
The article addresses the issue of painful transformations that philosophy has been experiencing starting from the beginning of the twentieth century. Special emphasis is made on attempts to make philosophical thinking receptive to the impulses from lit- erature and art. In this context it requires from philosophy in its non-metaphysical form the recognition of the necessity to elabo- rate a different language for articulation of its content.
