Phenomenon of Care in Jan Patočka’s and Michel Foucault’s Philosophies
Article
Abstract
[In Russian]
The article is dedicated to the phenomenon of care in the philosophy of such thinkers as Michel Foucault and Jan Patočka. The aim of the article is to compare two different interpretations of the ancient concept of care considering some peculiar properties of structuralism and phenomenology. Care for the soul and care of the self are basic concepts which can be interpreted not only in a line of history of philosophy but also as life strategies in a modern society. In this way, the phenomenon of care cannot be interpreted only as a moral or social notion, but also as a gate to truly philosophical and rational life. The pursuit of the truth, self- development and taking the responsibility are the main features of the care.
