Новизна и традиционность в new media
Article
Abstract
[In Russian]
Based on M. McLuhan’s definition of hot and cold media this paper performs the analysis of digital media and tests its specific properties. Traditional media are dependent on limitations of the physical world, whereas digital media are virtual, flexible and open to any imaginable modification. As expected, the process of modifications in digital representation is quite active. On the one hand, this process is tied to traditional practices, on the other there is a tradition emerged from the specificity of the digital world. Utilizing metaphors of hot/cold media concurrently with applying the remediation concept gives the framework for conscious analyzing of rapidly changed digital environment.
