Bartleby as a Symbol of Resistance: To the Problem of Determination of the Political Subject

In this article the modern philosophical conceptions of subjectivity are analyzed in the political-ontological aspect as a basis of resistance in society of the late capitalism. Bartleby, the main character of the novel by G. Melville becomes the main symbol of resistance, and philosophical implications of this figure are identified as the methodological conditions which must be taken into account in order to overcome the barriers that were posed by Louis Althusser in his theory of ideology.
