INTERVIEW BY TATIANA SHCHYTTSOVA WITH VLADIMIR MATSKEVICH

Abstract

Interview by Tatiana Shchyttsova, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Topos, with Belarusian philosopher, active public and political figure Vladimir Matskevich. Matskevich was recognized as a political prisoner and spent more than four years behind the bars. He was among 52 political prisoners who were released on September 11, 2025, as a result of negotiations between a representative of the US president and the Belarusian authorities. In the interview, Matskevich talks about his experience of opposing the Lukashenko’s regime and shares his views on the role and place of philosophy in society and the specifics of prison as a totalitarian institution.
