Loci Communes: Strategies of Legitimation of Philosophy in University Structure

The central question of the article is the question of a char- acter of the connection between philosophy and university. The author is assured that leaving philosophy out of university is con- nected with the same set of the reasons which cause the univer- sity crisis as a whole. Earlier «the idea of university» without or out of philosophy was incredible because it was philosophy that acted as a certain guarantor of universality. Speaking about the problem of legitimation of philosophy at university the author al- locates three possible strategies of it: universalist (philosophy is a generalized universal system or outlook), scientist (philosophy carries out methodological function in relation to humanitarian knowledge) and cultural-historical (philosophy is an important part of historical culture). Nevertheless, modern trends of uni- versity development, according to the author, allow to regard one of these strategies as possible for realisation, but they pose a ques- tion to philosophers on the post-Soviet territory, whether using «institutional passivity» they are ready to offer some new forms of interaction to the society and to the state.
